How does my UTV Clicksilver Broadband Phone work?
With the UTV Clicksilver Broadband Phone, phone calls are converted to digital data
which uses part of the bandwidth that comes with your UTV Clicksilver Broadband
Phone connection. The UTV Clicksilver Broadband Phone uses ‘Voice over Internet
Protocol’ (VoIP) technology and it’s just a great new way to make and receive phone
calls using your broadband connection instead of your standard phone line. The UTV
Clicksilver Broadband Phone converts your phone calls into data that zips through
your high-speed broadband connection just like email. It comes out the other end
just like a regular phone call. Your callers are unlikely to know that it’s any
different since it sounds just like a regular phone call. Quite simply, the UTV
Clicksilver Broadband Phone enables you to make phone calls over your broadband
connection. As a result, you enjoy the flexibility of having the benefits of an
extra phone line without needing to have a second line installed.

these files?
These files were originally viruses that have been renamed by UTV Internet
Security Enabled by F-Secure in order to prevent them from infecting your
computer. Disinfection was not possible because these files were 100% virus code
and UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure renamed them automatically by

Detailed descriptions are not available for all malware even though the
antivirus detects them. Also many viruses belong to the same family and share

description list. Note! The product detects much more than is listed on the
database.

from the application. You can either:
- Stop using the application and uninstall it, or

to work again and can spy your computer and display advertising popups.

to the network with the Internet Shield Application Control.

Is Backweb spyware
No. Backweb is a tool. It is a client-server content distribution and management
application, which allows vendors to pro-actively distribute content to their
users. Companies like Compaq, HP, MacAfee, F-Secure, Western Digital, Logitech,
Kodak and IBM are some of BackWeb´s customers. Each of these vendors bundles a
customized BackWeb client into their products, which are shipped to their end
users. These companies use the BackWeb client to distribute drivers, software
updates, patches and critical information from a secure server at their site
directly to their users' hard-drives.
One of the DLLs that is launched by the BackWeb process is the 'IadHide3.dll'.
This DLL is critical for the proper functionality of the BackWeb client.
The DLL is registered as a Windows system-wide hook (using the standard Win32
API) and traps the following events:
- Keyboard activity
- Mouse activity
- Applications – opening and closing of processes
All the above events are not logged to any device (disk, network, etc.). The
fact that activity occurred and its timing is reported to the BackWeb client
(running on the same machine). The BackWeb client uses these events to:
- Display pop-up flashes (also referred to as a BackWeb Flash, executed BALI
script, or Sprite) in a polite manner, i.e., only if the user was not active for
a certain (configurable) amount of time. Whenever a keyboard or mouse event is
trapped the user is considered to be active, and no pop-up Flashes are displayed
- Disable pop-up flashes and communication when certain (configurable)
applications are running. Similarly, if a full-screen application (such as a
PowerPoint presentation) is running, the Client disables pop-up Flashes.
- The DLL notes only the occurrence of the most recent usage of the keyboard and
mouse so it knows when to trigger BackWeb activity, but it does not record the
actual usage information itself such as, which key on the keyboard was used or
icon was clicked with the mouse.
- Some Anti-Spyware vendors view this as unacceptable and remove the BackWeb from
your computer, which in the case of UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure
will stop the downloading of updates.

select 'Do not ask again' and click Allow. Applications that can be considered
safe are:
- A known application that you have actively started yourself
- Windows services that are connecting to the Internet
- Safe Microsoft Windows Services
Suspicious Applications
Any application you have received from a distrusted source should always be
treated with suspicion. Any application you have received from a trusted source
without prior agreement should also be treated as suspicious.
If you are not sure whether you should allow the application to access the
Internet, click Deny. If you are sure that you do not want to allow the
suspicious application to access the Internet, select 'Do not ask again' and
click Deny. Applications that can be considered unsafe are:
- Any application you have not actively installed yourself, or have no knowledge
of
- Any application which you consider safe but which tries to connect to the
Internet or act as a server without you starting it
- A connection that displays an IP address instead of DNS name as a target, or
- Any application which tries to start another application or manipulate another
running application without you starting it

I am trying to update UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure on Windows 98
and the error message is “Network Incomplete”. What should I do
On older Windows versions, the NETBEUI protocol is not fully integrated as a
standalone protocol and Windows 98 needs this protocol for some TCP/IP services.
To solve the problem, install the "NETBEUI" protocol from the Windows 98 CD.
Sometimes it is also necessary to reinstall TCP/IP, even if it is already
installed.
Note! You will also need to install the NETBEUI protocol if you are using
windows 98 in a Local Area Network (LAN) with 2000/XP computers and want to be
able to share folders, drives and printers.
What is firewall 'packet logging' and how can I use it
Packet logging is a tool used for example to analyze network traffic, and gather
evidence of illicit behavior. It consists of copying the payload and headers of
all the network traffic the computer sees to a file, which can be viewed later.
The firewall logs the packets in a format that is readable by most network
analysis tools.
If programs have problems accessing the Internet, it is useful to see what is
happening on the firewall by creating a packet log. The log can be send to
F-Secure support professionals for further analysis.
To turn on firewall packet logging:
- Open UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure
- Click the Internet Shield tab
- Click on 'Advanced' to open the advanced dialog
- Click on 'Logging'
- In 'Logging time' type 120 seconds and in 'Max log file size' type 2MB.
- Click 'Start logging' to start the process
- A log file such as 'Packetlog.0' is created. In 'Logging directory' you can see
the location where the log file is being saved (default C:Program
filesF-secureFWESlogs).
You can send this file to us in an e-mail attachment with your support request.
Can I use Windows XP firewall with UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure
No. You cannot use Windows XP firewall with UTV Internet Security Enabled by
F-Secure. UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure already has a firewall
built-in. If you use two software firewalls they will grind your system to a
halt. However, you can use a hardware firewall (i.e. router) and F-Secure
Internet security.
Note! You can use Windows XP firewall with other F-Secure products that do not
contain a firewall, such as F-Secure Anti-Virus.
Why do I need the Parental Control password?
If Parental Control is enabled, the Parental Control password is necessary for every
change to the UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure settings, to protect against
unwanted changes. Even the user interface cannot be opened without the password.
How do I change the Parental Control settings?
New rules can be added from the advanced settings of Parental Control. On the Parental
Control tab click on the ‘Web pages allowed /denied’ link. This will open a view
listing all visited, allowed, and denied websites in their own tabs. New sites can
be added to allowed or denied lists using the add button.
If you are using Internet Explorer, new sites can be listed as allowed or denied
using the UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure Web filter button in the browser’s
toolbar.
How can I disable the Parental Control temporarily?
You can disable Parental Control by clicking on the ‘Disable’ link on the Parental
Control line of the main user interface. NOTE! To be able to perform this or any
other action of UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure settings, the Parental
Control password is required.
I have forgotten my Parental Control password, how can I access the UTV Internet
Security Enabled by F-Secure settings?
In case you have forgotten your password, you can access the UTV Internet Security
Enabled by F-Secure settings by using your subscription number.
The Parental Control Time Lock is blocking the connection to the Internet. What
can I do
When Time Lock blocks the connection to the Internet, the web browser displays a
notification that Time Lock is active and the Internet cannot be accessed. Click
the link on the page and enter your Parental Control password to suspend Time Lock
until the specified time. Time Lock blocks all connections again after the time
you specify.
You can also suspend Time Lock from the Internet Explorer Parental Control menu
button and from the F-Secure icon in the Windows system tray at the bottom right
corner of your screen.
Is UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure really updated automatically
Yes. UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure is developed to meet this demand.
The Automatic Update Agent activates transparently in the background any time you
connect to the Internet, and ensures that you receive the latest updates transparently
to your computer. If your computer is offline when an automatic update is due, the
updates are downloaded automatically the next time you connect to the Internet.
Why do UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure updates take so long to download
If you have a slow connection such as a dial-up connection, or if you are browsing
other websites while the download is taking place, it could slow down the download
speed.
How do I know that I have the latest updates
You can see the update packages and their date stamps on UTV Internet Security Enabled
by F-Secure ‘Automatic Updates’ pane. To check if there are newer updates available
click the ‘Check now’ link in the ‘Automatic Updates’ pane.
How can I check that my UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure is valid and that
automatic updates are working
You can check the status of UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure by double-clicking
its icon in the Windows system tray. This opens the main settings of the program,
where you can get a quick and detailed overview of your security settings and the
status of all the installed components. If the status of UTV Internet Security Enabled
by F-Secure is shown as ‘Protected’ and the rest of the settings display a green
icon, the service is functioning well. If the status icons have switched to yellow
or red, please refer to the user manual for further assistance.
The software gives the message that the virus definitions are out of date. What
can I do
To receive the latest updates, you need to have a working Internet connection. Make
sure you are connected to the Internet and check for the latest virus definitions
manually:
• Open UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure. Click the ‘Automatic Updates’
tab, and then click ‘Check now’. The software will connect to our servers and retrieve
the latest updates.
If the software still gives the message that the virus definitions are out of date,
try the following:
• Check that the Windows date and time are correct as this can cause F-Secure to
report that your definitions are out of date. You can see the date and time on the
Windows clock in the Windows system tray. You can change the clock settings in the
Date and Time Properties. To open the properties, double-click the clock.
• Check that Windows firewall is turned off: Windows Start -> Control Panel-> Windows
Firewall-> off. Then restart the computer.
• If you are behind a slow connection such as a ‘Dial up’ connection, you can speed
up the update process by forcing the HTTP protocol:
1. Open UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure
2. Click the Automatic Updates tab, and then click ‘Advanced’.
3. From the left menu select ‘Connection’ and in ‘Default client protocol’ choose
‘HTTP protocol’.
4. From the left menu select ‘HTTP Proxy’, and in ‘HTTP Proxy’ choose ‘No HTTP proxy’.
5. Note! If you are behind a router, proxy server, or using AVM Ken!, you can configure
your proxy manually by choosing ‘Manually configure HTTP proxy’.
6. Click ‘OK’ to apply the settings.
7. Try updating the virus definitions again: Open UTV Internet Security Enabled
by F-Secure. Click the ‘Automatic Updates’ tab, and then click ‘Check now’.
Important! When the virus definitions are updated change the setting for ‘Default
client protocol’ back to ‘Automatic: Use polite protocol, fallback to HTTP’.
• If you have used Spybot Search & destroy, please recover all Backweb and Backweb
lite -keys from that program: Open Spybot -> press recovery -> choose Backweb and
Backweb Lite -> press restore chosen files.
• If the software displays an “Automatic Update Malfunction”, please uninstall tools
like Spybot, Tune Up Utilities, and similar programs. Then reinstall UTV Internet
Security Enabled by F-Secure.
If the problem persists after 3 days, please submit a support request
to F-Secure. To call a support professional at F-Secure see, Technical Support
Phone Numbers.
As a temporary workaround please update your virus definitions by downloading and
running the fsupdate tool: ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/updates/fsupdate.exe.
Note! The tool updates only the virus definitions but not the spam or spyware signatures.
I get the error message ‘Runner Error’ when starting the computer. What should I
do
This normally happens because you have run Spybot Search & Destroy and this has
deleted part of the F-Secure update mechanism called Backweb. You will need to reinstall
UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure to get Backweb back. Please be careful
not to delete Backweb when running Spybot.
What should I do if the Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) failed
The CRC check is a check of the data contained within a file. In this case the files
making up the anti-virus signature databases. If the CRC fails, the files are corrupt
and cannot be used for updating the software. Sometimes this is caused when using
two firewalls.
If you are using the product with Windows XP Service Pack 2, you must disable Windows
firewall:
1. On the Windows Start Menu select ‘Control Panel’ to open its window.
2. If you see ‘Pick a category’, click ‘Switch to Classic View’ (on the left side).
3. Double-click ‘Windows Firewall’ to open its dialog.
4. Click ‘Off’ and then ‘OK’ to close the dialog.
5. Note! Your computer is still protected with the F-Secure Internet Shield firewall.
6. Restart your computer to apply the settings.
Changing the Protocol settings can also help if the database files have been corrupted
while they were being transferred. To change the protocol settings:
1. Open UTV Internet Security Enabled by F-Secure.
2. Click the Automatic Updates tab, and then click ‘Advanced’.
3. On the left menu select ‘Connection’, and in ‘Default client protocol’ choose
‘HTTP protocol’.
4. On the left menu select ‘HTTP Proxy’, and in ‘HTTP Proxy’ choose ‘No HTTP proxy’.
5. Click ‘OK’ to apply the settings.
To replace the corrupt files, you will need the ‘fsbwreset.zip’ file (available
from our support on request):
Extract the ‘fsbwreset.zip’ file (sent to you in the e-mail attachment) and run
the ‘fsbwrest.exe’. When the reset is complete, click ‘OK’. The software will re-download
the updates and replace the corrupted files (this may take up to 30 minutes).
Note! You need a working Internet connection.
When this is complete, the automatic updates should work again.
