What is the difference between SDSL and ADSL?
ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) currently provides download speeds of up to 8Mbps with a maximum upload speed of only 832Kbps regardless of download speed. SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line) provides the same speed in both directions, so if you buy a UTV SDSL you will have up to 2Mbps in both directions. That's a download speed up to two and a half times faster than ADSL. SDSL circuits are carried over a new copper wire and they do not support traditional telephony unlike ADSL where a customer is able to access the Internet and make a phone call using the same line at the same time.
What type of businesses will benefit from the service?
The service is designed to suit small and medium sized businesses that:
Send large files or data to customers and suppliers.

UTV Internet aims to have your service completed within 12 working days. In some cases this may take longer and we would advise you of any additional delays.

A BT engineer will visit your premises to install a socket. You will then be required to plug your SDSL compatible router in to the socket to enable you to use the service. Further work may be required following the engineering visit prior to completion of the service provision, should this be the case the service desk will call you to inform you that the order has been completed.
Can UTV supply our company with a Router?
Yes, we can offer you a Cisco router at a cost of £395 (excluding VAT). If you do not wish to be supplied with our router, you can source your own from an alternative, reputable supplier.
Is there an installation fee?
The install fee is a one-off charge of £495 (excluding VAT).
If you require an engineer to install and configure the router it will cost £ 450 per day. It normally only takes one day to configure subject to your current system setup.
